Indexes in SQL Server

Index is one of the SQL Server object. Mainly indexes are used to improve the performance of the  queries.Indexes are created on any tables or views.

Mainly there are two types of indexes.

  1. Clustered Index
  2. Non-Clustered  Index.

Note:

  • Only one clustered Index is permitted per table or view.
  • We can create multiple non-clustered indexes on a table or view.(In SQL Server 2005 {249}, From SQL Server 2008 on words max limit is: {999} ).
